With a passion vested in an interdisciplinary future of business and finance, Cyrus Tse is an intellectually curious and mindful young adult in Hong Kong seeking to help reduce economic inequalities through his various leadership initiatives in and out of school.
My Story
Growing up, every Sunday after church Cyrus and his siblings would go to their aunt’s home and they would play monopoly all afternoon, which sparked his interest in economics, finance, and business. The game was a fantastic introduction to key concepts like property ownership, investment strategies, and resource management, allowing him to develop skills in financial decision-making and strategic planning. Beyond Monopoly, he has always been an active individual; he started swimming at the age of two, which gave him a strong base and core for athletics. Basketball is his sport now, where he enjoys the teamwork and fast pace style of the game. Additionally, he played football and practiced fencing (foil) as a kid, further enriching his experiences in sports. Together, these experiences have helped shape his understanding of collaboration and adaptability, laying a strong foundation for his future pursuits in finance and business.
Cyrus is actively involved in several academic, extracurricular, and personal leadership engagements. His main focus is managing the sports media team, which he founded and currently serves as the deputy head. This role allows him to combine his passion for sports with media production: as well as managing the finances in the team, fostering teamwork and creativity among team members. Additionally, he is a member of the Mother's Choice Youth Leadership Club, where he works on initiatives that support underprivileged young mothers and the youth in Hong Kong. He has also joined a neurodiversity club to promote awareness and inclusivity for neurodiverse individuals. Volunteering is very important to Cyrus, and he dedicates time to Mother's Choice, a charity that supports vulnerable children and families. He also volunteers with IBEL, which helps underprivileged kids access educational resources and opportunities.
On the athletic front, Cyrus is proud to be a member of my school’s varsity basketball team, varsity swim team, and varsity track team, which keeps him active and allows him to develop his leadership and teamwork skills in a competitive environment. Lastly, Cyrus has been playing the violin at a grade 5 level. Together, these activities help him grow as a leader while making a positive impact in our community.
Looking ahead, Cyrus’ primary objective is to attend a great university to pursue his interests in global finance and management. While he has a clear focus on finance, he wants to keep an open mind about his future career path. He wants to explore various opportunities and see how his interests would evolve throughout university.
